Choosing a Travel Backpack

Image
Before we begin, let me preface this post with the disclaimer that I am not being paid to promote any of the products mentioned. Anything I show you is due to my own research.   Now that we’ve got that out of the way, it’s time to talk about travel backpacks! Specifically, carry-on travel backpacks. There are many different sizes out there as possibilities, however, some travelers prefer to keep their luggage with them at all times. That is where the carry-on size comes in handy.   According to United Airlines’ website , “The maximum dimensions for a carry-on bag are 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches (22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm), including handles and wheels.” When choosing the right backpack for you, it’s important to keep these dimensions in mind, especially as you’re tempted to fill your luggage to its maximum capacity. The "Why" and "How" of Google Trips

Image
In a previous blog post, I mentioned utilizing an app called Google Trips to plan ahead before traveling. If you haven’t heard of Google Trips, it’s an efficient (free) tool that enables a smartphone-wielding tourist to navigate a city with ease, even in a location with no WiFi or data available. Through the app, you can read reviews, watch uploaded videos, and even track peak visiting times when the throngs are at their largest. Once you’ve narrow...

I learned a few tips along the way that I’d love to share with you, which will hopefully better prepare you for when you take the plunge and book your own flights. Here are 10 things I learned while traveling in Europe:       1. Choose the right luggage.       Since my trip was only one week long, I was able to use a travel backpack so I wouldn’t have to worry about checking a bag before each flight. Be warned that American aircraft cabins can often be larger than those overseas, meaning that a bag can quickly go from being a carry-on to checked. Make sure to research the size of carry-on allowed on any airlines you use. As you choose your luggage, keep in mind that pickpockets are rampant, and unaware tourists provide easy pickings. You’ll want something sturdy that hopefully comes with a couple locks as an added deterrent.   ...
